12/2007:
Tony Levin chooses Silvertone Mastering for his latest release, Stickman on
Lazy Bones Recordings. Tony is featured playing Chapman stick throughout the recording, which also features fellow King Crimson bandmate Pat Mastelotto on drums. Record label owner Scott Shorr says "it's the closest thing to a Crimson record that Tony has ever done outside King Crimson".
Ongoing Projects:
Silvertone Mastering provides specialized mastering services for the film industry. Companies such as Lionsgate Entertainment, Robert Etoll Productions, APM Music, Megatrax, and Q Factory contract with Silvertone to handle the mastering of music and sound effects for feature films such as Spiderman 3, Mission Impossible 3, Sicko, 3:10 to Yuma, I Am Legend, Pirates of the Caribbean, The Brave One, and many more.
6/2007:
Silvertone Mastering and Millbrook Sound Studios along with the Audities Foundation (Alberta, Canada) host "The Great Helios Listening Party". Select Helios modules from famous consoles (Island, Manor, Leon Redbone, etc..) were auditioned by a group of industry vets in an attempt to hear what made these boards special and how they differentiated from one another. Also included in the listening test was the Helios remake by engineer Tony Arnold and the UA Audio Type 69 plug in. The highlight came when famed engineer/producer Eddie Kramer manned the controls while telling stories and showing the group pictures of renowned sessions done on these great consoles.
7/2006:
Last summer good friend and Apple guru Kevin Raymond came 'back home' for a visit so we thought we'd take a drive to visit our mutual friend, Tony Levin. Here is a picture I snapped of Tony and Kevin in front of Tony's house, it was a great day filled with way too many cups of cappuccino and much needed chill time for all of us.
8/2006:
Chris Muth from Dangerous Music came up for a visit (and a swim) to Silvertone Mastering to install one of their Dangerous Master units. It was an exciting day for me as I had always admired Chris' designs and couldn't wait to hear the console in the chain. I was floored and it hasn't come out of the chain since. Truly one of the nicest guys you'll meet in the business.
4/2003:
Producer/engineer, extraordinary Malcolm Burn. Todd Vos snapped this picture of Malcolm and I when I went to interview him for Tape-Op magazine back in 2003. Check out Yellow Moon by the Neville Brothers or Oh Mercy by Bob Dylan to hear some of Malcolms extraterrestrial landscapes.
